Residential Sales slow in Edmonton – #Yeg #yegre

It seems that in Edmonton, when we do something, we really do it! So while residential properties sales have been slowing across Canada, things are slowing down faster here than most other major centres. To be fair, Edmonton had a very active spring in Real Estate, so we’re actually coming into line with what much of the country is doing. It just seems to be happening faster, because we had farther to go. Sales of all types of residential properties in Edmonton were down 17.4% from sales in July. Our market is also slower than it was a year ago, with 10.7% fewer sales this August.

Despite the slowing activity, prices are actually up from a year ago. With the trend toward fewer sales in the Canadian market, Edmonton is once again taking the role of trend-setter. For buyers, the trend may mean a little more time to make a comfortable decision, while sellers can take heart that homes may not be selling as quickly, but they’re not trending down in price. Even when the market is slowing, the quickest way to address changing real estate needs in your life is to talk to a REALTOR® –here when life happens!
