Here’s yet another report that the American economy is in the dumper. Apparently the overnight markets took another big beating. I wonder how much more abuse it can take?

Still… I feel bad for the average American. They’re loosing their shirts. The rich guys can afford to survive this, but the simple labourer who’s depending on his pension is really in trouble here.
They’ve lost their home equity, if not their home. Now they’re losing their pension and investments. I think a baseball card collection is looking like a fairly solid investment these days.
But at least we aren’t feeling any major impact in the Edmonton real estate market yet. I’m sure there’ll be some fall out… but it says a lot for the strength of our economy and consumer confidence that we’re still climbing and recovering from the real estate “fall-out” from last year.
